HAVING REGARD to Article 13 (c) of the Convention for European Economic Co-operation of 16th April 1948;
HAVING REGARD to the Report by the Tourism Committee of 17th February 1960 on the Standardization of Registration Papers issued by Member Countries for Motor Vehicles [C (60) 40];
I. RECOMMENDS the governments of Member countries to issue, not later than 1st January 1962, for private motor vehicles and motor cycles and, if possible, for all other road motor vehicles subject to registration, registration certificates which shall be grey in colour and have a format of 105 x 148 mm., and on which the following entries:
— Registration number
— Date of first registration
— Surname (of applicant for certificate)
— First name (of applicant for certificate)
— Home address (of applicant for certificate)
— Name or trademark of the maker of the vehicle
— Maker’s number or serial number,
Shall be followed respectively by the following code letters: (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F), (G).
Member countries shall report to the Organisation before 1st January 1962 on the measures they have taken or intend to take to give effect to this Recommendation.
In adopting this Recommendation, the Council NOTED that a majority of its Members reserved their countries’ positions regarding implementation of all or parts of that Recommendation.
